Madison Turns Two

Dear Madison,

What a personality you have for a two year old! You are so funny; you are always trying to make everyone laugh. You are everyone’s favorite everywhere you go. You love to dance so you are constantly asking for the “party,” which means you want the music on. You actually have good dance moves for a two year old. You like to stick one leg out and lower yourself to the ground, which we all call the “one legged dance move.” Your favorite song is jingle bells, and you like to grab mommy’s guitar to play it (and we are well past Chrismas J). You also like Wheels on the Bus, Smashing baby bumble bee, If you’re happy and you know it, skinamarinkidinkidnk and many more.

In addition to your dancing, your words are funny too. You are super duper bossy (I have no idea where you get that from). You will boss the dogs around, you tell them “go potty now,” “go away,” “come on guys,” etc. You try to boss mom and dad too. You’ll say… “Mommy sit,” at school… which means you want me to sit next to you and not leave. You’ll also say, “No mam mommy,” and “stop,” “go to time out daddy,” “mommy…e-nough!” We have this little thing where I tell you I have a secret, but then you come whisper in my ear “daddy’s crazy” and we both laugh hysterically. Daddy thinks it’s funny too, well sort of J. You are also funny in a sweet way… you say “excuse me mommy” when you want by. You also say, “go ahead mommy,” “bye bye – see you later,” etc.

You like to count in English and Spanish – you are so smart! Sometimes you like to skip numbers, but usually you are trying to be funny. You are a really good talker for your age and you ask a ton of questions. I can show you a picture of almost anything and you can name what it is. You aren’t a big fan of reading… but it’s only because you are super active and getting you to sit still is almost impossible! Similarly, you don’t like watching TV… but it’s really funny because when we tell you that you are going to bed, you beg “watch a show, watch a show!” You know that mommy and daddy watch TV once you go to sleep, so you think that if you can get us to let you watch a show, you can stay up. Ok Ok – sometimes it works! You’re just to hard to turn down J.

Other funny things you do… you like to put mom to sleep in your bed. Feed me a pacifier, etc. You are going to be such a good big sister. I can’t wait to see how you treat your baby brother! For the most part, you are excited about your brother. You like to kiss my belly over and over, it’s so cute.
You are still in gymnastics but it’s getting a bit boring for you. The place is small and the class is big… you hate waiting in line for things. What two year old doesn’t I guess. We are thinking about putting you in dance class. But dad says… the better like the one legged move because that is your specialty.

When I think about what you will be when you grow up, I’m so conflicted. Since you were little you have been very observant, wondering how everything works. Other kids want to get in the swings and just go, you like to do the same but stare up the whole time trying to figure out how it all works. That makes me wonder if you will be a Dr. or an Engineer. But then there is your love for music… you wanting to pull out the guitar…. Will you be a musician? A dancer? And then there is your humor and personality. You love people and making them laugh. You are such a well rounded little girl!

You’re second birthday was so much fun. We went to 7 Acre woods in Conroe, Texas. Since it was your first full year in Texas, we thought it would be fun to do a Texas Barnyard Bash. We had fishing, a petting zoo, horseback riding, hayrides, and so much more! You were so adorable in your cowgirl outfit. You had a lot of your friends there from school and the neighborhood.

You’re now just over two and we recently decided that you were ok to move to a guardrail and convert your crib into a toddler bed. One reason was because mommy is pregnant and it is getting harder to put you over the rail. But – we have also seen you try and climb over your rail… and I don’t want you getting hurt. So, we installed the guardrail. That lasted us about a month and you have now figured out how to get around it and get out of your bed. The only problem is… you can’t seem to get back in your bed! So, we had to remove it and start working with you to understand that you now have a big girl bed. This resulting in you sleeping on the floor one night, but it looks like you are going to get it now!

We are gearing up for you to be a big sister. You will be the best big sister, I can tell by the way you treat babies and your dogs. For the most part, you are really excited about your brother coming, and you have actually been practicing bossing him around, telling him to “sit down” in the wagon and “go to bed brother” in his new crib. I just can’t wait to watch you interact with him.

We love you so much Madison. You truly are a beautiful and happy little girl who brightens our day, everyday!
