14 MONTHS!

Our baby is growing way to fast! Her newest thing is to pretend like she is talking on the telephone. She actually puts it up to her ear and says “hello.” The entire conversation after that point is gibberish, but hey…. She thinks she is saying something really important! This week she had many firsts, including the first time mommy and daddy got a call that Madison had hit another kid in her class and in turn, he bit her…. Twice this week! In addition, it was Go Texan day at school so Madison dressed up in her pink sequin rodeo attire!

At 14 months:

-          Madison has developed a random phobia to baths. She has been taking quick showers with mom to try and get over this phase.

-          Knows more sign language: Thank you and all done

-          Can show you where her nose is

-          Can show you the beginning signs of the song “itsy bitsy spider”

-          Words:

o   Kitty (sounds like “ke-ke”)

o   Hello (sounds like “heo”)

o   Doggie (sounds like “do-gie”)

o   Kyla (sounds like “ky-a”)

o   Baby (clear)

o   Mama (clear)

o   Dada (clear)

o   Nana (clear)

-          Can eat most things completely by herself as long as it is soft (like breakfast bars, bread, etc.)

-          Can eat with a spoon as long as you hand it to her with food on it

-          Still has her pacifier for bedtime, but no other time

-          Sleeps 7:00 pm-6:30 am

-          Very stubborn – throws fits if she cannot do something she wants

-          Favors her dad

-          Loves to dance, can do bounces, side to side and twirls in circles

-          Likes to play rough

A toddler - 13 Months

13 Months

We have somewhat settled into our new home and Madison is getting used to her new daycare. This was a transition for her because she was still used to drinking from a bottle and taking 2 naps a day. However, since Madison is walking, she gets put into the older class, which is only taking one nap a day and drinking from a sippy cup. So, Madison is going through quite the transition.

The first daycare that we took her to wasn’t working for us. We already felt like Madison was experiencing a lot of change and the daycare wasn’t very organized so it was just making it worse. Madison has been going to her new daycare for about three weeks now. It’s called Stepping Stones and it has been a good experience so far. She has made many new friends. However, as I mentioned in earlier posts, Madison is a dare devil. So, she has been falling a lot trying to go above and beyond her abilities. Mike and I decided to take her to the mall to get her big girl tennis shoes. Although the experience was not fun (Madison does not yet appreciate shopping), we were able to get her some Nike airs with pink accents. She looks so fabulous… and they give good ankle support too! In addition, she has fully transitioned to a sippy cup and takes naps in a knapsack! Go Madison!

Madison is loving living in Houston. She has already spent a ton of time with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins… she has even attended her cousins hockey game!

At 13 months Madison is:

-         Signed up for Gymnastics (starts in March 2013 – when she is 14 months)

-         Likes to try new adventurous things – stand up on chairs and clap for herself when she does it, get frustrated when she can’t

-         Says “doggy” “thank you”

-         Knows sign language: Please and more

-         Wears 12-18 months

-         Weighs 20 pounds

-         Is getting her first molar

-         Can eat anything – has nice food at daycare including bar b que sandwiches, etc.

-         Got her first double ear infection – not fun!

-         Loves her own bouncy house in the backyard

-         LOVES her dogs and all animals

-         Sits in a forward facing carseat in one of the cars

-         Will throw drink or food if she is done

ONE YEAR MILESTONE

12 Months

I cannot believe that in a blink, our baby is turning one. She does something every day and is absolutely precious.

Madison loved Christmas. She understood that she needed to tear the wrapping off, but got bored after the first part and basically just wanted the toy! From mom and dad she got a new kitchen for her playroom!
Madison’s party was amazing. It was a winter Onederland, where we had our close family and friends gather to celebrate her day. We had a bouncy princess castle and a trackless train for the kids entertainment. In addition to the entertainment, we had more sweets than you could imagine. We had princess wands (sugar coated marshmallows), hot chocolate bar, snow dusted donuts (powdered sugar donuts), ice wands (rock candy), cupcakes, cake, snowballs (cake pops), etc. It was amazing. Madison had so much fun. She loved the bounce house and loved taking rides on the train.

The day after Madison’s party, we closed on our new house! Madison LOVES her new house. She has so many new friends around her, a yard, playroom, and the upstairs is practically hers! We are looking forward to this new journey.

At 12 months Madison:

-         Has 8 teeth

-         Not just walks, tries to run

-         Dare devil – tries to climb things

-         Blows kisses

-         Still split between mommy and daddy – hasn’t chosen a side

-         Still very active, hates to be in her car seat, being held for a long time, etc.

-         Starting to scream and throw fits – which are very embarrassing

-         Wears 12 month clothing but pants are a little small (junk in the trunk)

-         Weighs 19 pounds

-         Only in the 3rd percentile for height (she will be a gymnast for sure)

-         Knows where her head is if you ask her

-         Throws her food or drink if she is done

11 Months

11 Months

Posting this a little late…. But here it is!

Our family is so busy getting ready for a big move. What move you ask? Well, we have decided that it is time to move back to Houston so that we can be closer to family. I was able to talk my work into transferring . We went down to Houston for Thanksgiving to look for a house and we found the perfect spot. It is in a neighborhood called Creekside Villiage in The Woodlands. It’s perfect for Madison because it is full of kids and has a small waterpark within the neighborhood. If everything goes smoothly, this may be the first home for the Perkins family.

While Mike and I have been diligently filling out paperwork for the house, Madison has no idea what is going on and is still having the time of her life. She loved seeing everyone at Thanksgiving and this time she was even able to take a few steps for them. She LOVED her cousins and even wrestled with them on the ground. Little does she know, these boys will soon be her protectors… no one will mess with her!

Madison still loves daycare. Natasha (her daycare teacher) tries to tell us that she says yellow, but I have not been able to get her to say it so I think the teacher might be hearing things! She kisses the little girl’s bye through the gate as she leaves.

At 11 months Madison is:

-         Walking about 7 steps and then stopping

-         Already acting like a big girl, pushing her doll in her swing

-         Has about 5 teeth

-         Eats big girl food such as Mac and Cheese and other finger foods

-         Waves hi and bye

-         Wears sizes 9-12 months

-         Wears size 1-2 shoe (she still has tiny feet like mamma)

-         Weighs about 18 pounds (she’s gonna be a flyer in cheerleading)

-         Cries when you say No
